Zhongmou garlic has the characteristics of large garlic head, uniform petals, white skin, fresh taste and good elasticity.

At present, there are 20 townships in the county, each of which has garlic planting, with a planting area of 380000 Mu and an annual output of 460000 tons. Its garlic diameter is generally 5.5 ~ 6 cm, and the extra large garlic is nearly 9 cm. Varieties include normal white garlic, pure white garlic, garlic seedling garlic, early maturing garlic, etc. But normal white garlic is the dominate production.
In recent years, with the comprehensive promotion of technologies such as plastic film mulching, seed selection in different places, suitable early planting and scientific management in the later stage, the yield and quality of garlic have been continuously improved, which has also driven the rapid development of Zhongmou economy. Focusing on the edible and medicinal value development projects of garlic, Zhongmou people have deeply processed garlic, built fresh-keeping facilities with sufficient storage capacity and many garlic product companies, and distributed fresh garlic, dried garlic, garlic powder, garlic oil, etc. all year round.
In 1984, Zhongmou white garlic, jointly cultivated by the Institute of biology of Henan Academy of Sciences and Zhongmou County Foreign Trade Company, began to be popularized in a large area.
Since 1991, domestic and foreign trade exports have been more than 100000 tons per year, exported to South Korea, Japan, the United States, Western Europe, Southeast Asia and other countries and regions, and the export volume ranks first in China.
Zhongmou white garlic has passed China's national geographical indication product protection certification and won the title of "famous agricultural product in Henan Province".
