At the county level, Jinxiang garlic is renowned for its nine "China's Greatest", including the largest planting area, highest yield per unit area, best quality, highest total yield, and largest export volume. On December 2, 2009, Jinxiang County and the European Union reached a consensus on the geographical indication of Jinxiang garlic, marking the recognition of the geographical indication of "Jinxiang garlic" by the European Union. The geographical indication mutual recognition agreement reached between Jinxiang Garlic and the European Union will be protected by the laws of various EU countries, becoming the passport for Jinxiang Garlic to enter the international market. On February 5, 2011, the European Commission announced the implementation of geographical indication protection for Jinxiang garlic. Jinxiang garlic enjoys the same protection as EU geographical indication products in the 27 member states of the European Union.
In May 2015, Shandong's geographical indication product Jinxiang Garlic was awarded the Chinese product license for the China Europe 10+10 Geographical Indication Mutual Recognition Project.
The simple people of Jinxiang have repeatedly shown their love in the face of the epidemic. In May 2003, the SARS outbreak in the capital city of Beijing always touched the hearts of the people of Garlic Township. Jinxiang urgently allocated 40 tons of high-quality Jinxiang garlic as a free gift to Beijing Xiaotangshan Hospital, which is at the forefront of fighting against SARS; In May 2008, four cars loaded with over 100 tons of high-quality garlic from Jinxiang set off from Jinxiang County with the deep friendship and sincere blessings of the people of Garlic Township, and headed for the Wenchuan disaster area thousands of miles away at night; In August 2010, a major mudslide geological disaster occurred in Zhouqu, and more than 30 tons of garlic from Jinxiang were rushed to aid.
The H7N9 avian influenza epidemic is affecting the hearts of the people in Garlic Township. Dozens of farmers, including Tian Feng from Tianzhuang Village, Xiaoyun Town, Jinxiang County, Shandong Province, have decided to donate 100 tons of garlic as a gesture of love. On April 19, 2013, 20 tons of love garlic will be shipped to Nanjing.
